| Harvard Fire Protection
District proudly protects 16,000 people living in an area of 108 square
miles. We operate out of one station that protects a primarily rural area.
Our department is a public department
whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status.
We have an ISO rating of 6 in town and 9 in rural areas.
The Harvard Fire Protection
District operates with 3 Trustees, 1 Chief, 1 Deputy Chief, 3 Captains,
3 Lieutenants and 41 members. One Captain, a FireFighter/ Paramedic,
is the District's first full-time employee and provides coverage 40 hours
per week on premise at the station.
The station is covered the remaining
days from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. with a Paramedic and EMTB. After 5
p.m., calls are covered on a "Paid-on-Call" basis by a Paramedic and an
EMTB who sign up for shifts to cover the evening hours.
The HFPD conducts inspections of
businesses and new construction. The department handles all levels
of emergencies ranging from extrication, farm rescue, high level rescue,
low-grade rescue, water rescue and Haz-Mat.
The Harvard Police Department handles
all of our dispatch needs, along with the McHenry County Sheriff's Department.
